The Pororoca Phenomenon
The pororoca is a tidal bore, with waves up to 4 meters high that travel as much as 13 kilometers inland upstream the Amazon River. The word pororoca comes from the indigenous Tupi language, meaning "great destructive noise".

This is a huge version of the reversing rapids in Eastern Canada.
